LEGAL DISCLAIMER

The information provided on this page is purely general and superficial explanations of how website operators should draft their own imprint. This article does not constitute reliable legal advice or an actual recommendation for action, as we cannot assess the business relationships with customers and visitors in advance. We therefore recommend that website operators seek legal advice and support when drafting their own imprint.

IMPRINT - THE BASICS

In Germany, an imprint (Impressum) is legally required for websites that are not used exclusively for personal or family purposes. It provides information about the author or responsible party for the website’s content.

The specific requirements for an imprint vary depending on the type of website and business (e.g., sole proprietorship, GbR, GmbH, editorial content, etc.). Website owners should seek legal advice to ensure their imprint complies with relevant regulations and includes all necessary information.

CONTENTS OF AN IMPRINT

In general, the imprint includes: full name and address of the company; telephone number, fax number and email address of the company; name and address of the registry court/commercial register where the company is registered; (commercial) registration number of the company; VAT identification number of the company; if applicable, information on the responsible supervisory authority.
